Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some common questions I am asked about my personal chef services. Feel free to reach out with any additional questions or concerns!

Q1

Do I need special equipment for you to cook in my home?

Nope. Only the basics are needed and I will bring any additional supplies that may be necessary. We will review your kitchen set up and menu preferences to find the best plan for you.

Q2

What if I have food allergies or intolerances?

That is what I am here to help with. We will review any troublesome foods during our initial consultation and keep this in mind for creating personal chef menus or during our individualized nutrition sessions.

Q3

Can I include my favorite recipes for the personal chef services?

Absolutely! I welcome any suggestions or recipes your family loves. I can also find ways to make your favorite recipes healthier or fit with special diets or allergies.

Q4

What is a Registered Dietitian? Is it different from a nutritionist?

Registered Dietitian's (also known as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionists [RDNs]), are the nutrition experts. RDNs have to complete a bachelor's (and Master's as of 2024) degree in nutrition along with a rigorous internship and registration examination. They then need to complete continuing education (75 CE's every 5 years) to stay registered. Some states also require licensing to practice.

Also, as stated above, RDNs are they only clinicians who can provide nutrition counseling for specific medical conditions (medical nutrition therapy) and bill insurance.

The term "nutritionist" has minimal oversight in regulations in many states and can often be used by individuals with minimal training or education. All dietitians are nutritionists, but not all nutritionists are dietitians. Always look for a nutrition expert (RDN) when seeking nutrition advice.
